Return to work for immigrant academics through EU project

Invitation to the photo session: Project participants visit the town hall on 12 January, 10 a.m.

Next Friday, 12 January 2018 at 10 a.m., immigrant academics who are taking part in the "Bridge for Academics in Chemnitz" project will be welcomed in the Green Salon of City Hall. The project is funded by the European Social Fund and the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs and is aimed at migrants who have obtained an academic degree abroad.

EU Coordinator Pia Sachs will first introduce them to Chemnitz and the city's European work. Afterwards, all participants will be given a guided tour of the town hall to learn more about Chemnitz's history. The participants come from Libya, Syria, India, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Serbia.

The migrants' professional fields include civil and chemical engineering, law and electrical engineering. Labour market coaching forms the bridge to the labour market. PROFIL Bildungsgesellschaft mbH organises specialist training and job-related language training within the project to enable adult migrants to enter the German labour market.

Participants are supported by the educational director of PROFIL Bildungsgesellschaft, Anja Herrmann(herrmann(at)bildungsgesellschaft-chemnitz.de Tel. 0371 5607503)
