On Monday, 11 August, Chemnitz Adult Education Centre will return from its summer break with a new programme booklet for the winter semester 2025. The semester catalogue will be available in the rooms of the Adult Education Centre and in the foyer of the TIETZ from 10 a.m. onwards.
In the 292-page catalogue, the adult education centre is now also presenting its programme for the winter semester, which begins on 1 September 2025, in printed form. The programme has been available online at www.vhs-chemnitz.de since 16 June 2025. More than 620 programmes from six subject areas are waiting to be discovered, booked and attended.
The adult education centre brings science up close - The "Science up close" series continues with new topics from current research. For example, there will be a look under the bonnet of self-driving cars, new materials will be scrutinised, the possibilities of artificial intelligence in education will be explored and a look back at the use of computers in the GDR will be taken.
More multilingual than ever before - 28 foreign languages can be learnt at Chemnitz Adult Education Centre in the winter semester. New additions to the programme include Aramaic and Greenlandic. The focus will be on Georgia, with a language course and two lectures.
Getting around, meeting, exchanging ideas - at all its events, the Adult Education Centre aims to bring together people with similar interests, albeit sometimes with different opinions. The educational excursions in particular promote encounters and exchanges. Destinations include the Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig and the memorial site of the former Hoheneck women's prison near Stollberg. You can also follow in the footsteps of the Capital of Culture, for example on Chemnitz city walks or an educational tour along the Purple Path in the Ore Mountains.

On Thursday, 21 August from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Chemnitz Adult Education Centre will be distributing the programme booklets for the 2025 winter semester at the traditional market day of the Adult Education Centre team at Chemnitz Neumarkt. Interested parties can pick up small gifts at the adult education centre's stand as well as discuss offers and course requests.
