In order to better understand students' needs, wishes and ideas for the city centre, the City of Chemnitz's business division has launched an online survey together with Chemnitz University of Technology. This is aimed specifically at students at Chemnitz University of Technology and is intended to provide insights into how student life can be better integrated into the city centre.
The survey can be found on the city of Chemnitz's participation portal at
https://mitdenken.sachsen.de/1054361
The survey is anonymous and takes about ten minutes to complete. Students who are interested in further formats can indicate this at the end of the survey. The survey will initially run for three months, ending on 14 September.
The revitalisation and further development of Chemnitz city centre is one of the central tasks of economic development. The aim is to make the city centre not only an attractive retail and work location, but also a lively meeting place for all generations. One focus here is on the young target group, in particular students at Chemnitz University of Technology.
Silvana Bergk, Head of the City of Chemnitz's Business Division: "We want young people, especially students at our university, to feel welcome and addressed in Chemnitz, even off campus. The city centre should be a place where they enjoy spending time and see themselves as part of city life."
The cooperation with Chemnitz University of Technology is an important step towards incorporating the perspectives of young people directly into future concepts and measures for city centre development. The business division hopes that the survey will provide concrete suggestions, e.g. what is important to students in terms of quality of stay, study and leisure facilities, gastronomy, mobility or student infrastructure, and which offers in the city centre should be created or changed specifically for this target group.
