Results of the Morgenstadt "City Lab" analysis are available

Chemnitz was thoroughly scrutinised last year by the Morgenstadt initiative "City Lab Chemnitz". The results of the comprehensive city analysis are now available. They will be presented to the public tomorrow, Tuesday 22 November at 6 pm in the foyer of the State Museum of Archaeology Chemnitz (smac). Admission is free.
Mayor Barbara Ludwig, Vice-Rector for Transfer and Continuing Education at Chemnitz University of Technology Prof. Dr Uwe Götze and Bernd Bienzeisler, who led the scientific analysis, will discuss the recommendations and the next steps for a sustainable and future-oriented Chemnitz. Other panellists from the worlds of science, business and culture have been invited to join the discussion with the people of Chemnitz.
Chemnitz won the global "Morgenstadt City Challenge" competition organised by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft's Morgenstadt innovation network alongside Prague and Lisbon, among others. As a Morgenstadt, Chemnitz gained access to a network of science, industry and politics and received comprehensive research and consulting services. More than 80 fields of action of the Morgenstadt model were analysed, including the areas of strategy and planning, economy, mobility and transport as well as energy and resources. Researchers from the Fraunhofer Society also spent several weeks in Chemnitz to gain an impression of the city.
During their stay, they conducted numerous interviews and organised workshops with representatives of the administration and institutions from the fields of science, business, society, art and culture as well as associations and clubs. In this process, the strengths and weaknesses of the city were identified, the need for action and potential were determined and a series of recommendations for the sustainable development of Chemnitz were drawn up.
