Restricted regular operation in day-care centres from tomorrow

Due to the current seven-day incidence in Chemnitz, day-care centres will be able to open with limited regular operations from tomorrow, Friday 21 May.

The following regulations apply in the centres:

Day care centres:

  • Restricted regular operation with fixed groups and carers,
  • Cancellation of emergency care, all children may return to the daycare centre.

Day care centres:

After-school care centres:

  • The separation of the childcare units in the after-school care centre should reflect the group structures allocated by the school as far as possible.
  • Children who are homeschooled in the morning are looked after in their "class"/group in the afternoon. The school is responsible for the early morning after-school care; the school and after-school care centre management agree on the structure. All children with a childcare contract may attend the after-school care centre after the end of lessons.
  • From Tuesday, 25 May, the after-school care centres will provide care for all children with a care contract within the usual opening hours.
  • After-school children must be tested twice a week like school children, otherwise they will not be allowed to enter.1) The number of test kits required for tomorrow for after-school children who have not been tested as part of their lessons will be handed over to the after-school care centre by the school.
    From Tuesday, 25 May, the school will be responsible for testing. The school and after-school care centre management will coordinate for children who attend the after-school care centre.

Note on ordering lunches

Parents are asked to order lunch for their children in the facilities from the respective caterer again.

1)Compulsory testing for educational staff, parents and children:

With the COVID-19 Protection Measures Exemption Ordinance (SchAusnahmV) issued by the Federal Government, vaccinated or recovered persons within the meaning of the new Federal Ordinance SchAusnahmV (educators, employees, professionals, parents and children) are treated the same as tested persons and may re-enter the facilities.

Non-vaccinated or recovered persons must present a negative test certificate from an organisation responsible for taking the test. It is no longer possible to submit a qualified self-declaration. The organisation is responsible for checking the proof.

This means that people who have been vaccinated twice and those who have recovered (six months after the first positive test) no longer need to be tested. These people no longer have to go into quarantine even if a positive case occurs in the facility.
