Residents' meeting on the accommodation and integration of refugees and asylum seekers on 1 February 2016

The topic of accommodation and integration of asylum seekers has characterised the public debate in recent months like no other. Just over a year ago, the municipal accommodation and care concept for asylum seekers was presented for the first time in the Jakobikirche, and the city of Chemnitz has been working to this concept ever since.

However, as decisions on asylum law and the accommodation and integration of refugees are largely made at federal and state level, the city would now like to offer the people of Chemnitz the opportunity to take stock together with members of the federal and state parliaments and other experts and to find out about and discuss the current situation.

For this reason, a residents' meeting on the topic of accommodation and integration of asylum seekers and refugees will take place on 1 February 2016 at 5 p.m. in the main hall of the Stadthalle, Theaterstraße 3, to which the Mayor of Chemnitz invites the citizens of the city.

Firstly, there will be an opportunity to receive answers to open questions during the event. Questions can also be submitted in advance in writing to the Mayor's office, Markt 1, 09111 Chemnitz or by email to buergerbuero@stadt-chemnitz.de by 18 January 2016.

In the further course of the residents' assembly, there will be an opportunity to discuss with Chemnitz members of the Bundestag and state parliament from various parties, as well as with Chemnitz city councillors and the head of administration.
