Residents' meeting for the South urban area
The residents' meeting for the districts of Helbersdorf, Hutholz, Kappel, Markersdorf and Morgenleite will take place on Friday, 25 January 2019 at 5 pm. The venue is Sachsenhalle Chemnitz, 275 Usti nad Labem St. This is the first residents' meeting to be held in a new format. Citizens can take a seat at so-called themed tables, where the Lord Mayor and the Mayors of the City of Chemnitz as well as a representative of the police will be available for discussions on their respective key topics.
At the table of Sven Schulze, Mayor for Personnel, Finance and Organisation, the question of what the money planned in the budget is spent on in the city districts will be answered - of course not without first answering the question of where the money comes from.
Miko Runkel, Mayor for Law, Security and Environmental Protection, will discuss security and order in the neighbourhoods together with a representative of the police, address problems and take up ideas or suggestions from citizens. Questions about waste disposal and winter services can also be asked, as Dirk Behrendt, the ASR's operations manager, will be taking a seat at the table.
The Mayor for Education, Social Affairs, Youth, Culture and Sport, Ralph Burghart , will present to interested citizens at a table where there will be new developments in daycare centres, schools and sports facilities. Where is the city building schools? Which daycare centres are being renovated? Which sports facilities are being built or modernised?
Building Mayor Michael Stötzer will answer questions about current and future construction projects at another table at the residents' meeting. New playgrounds, roadworks, local public transport or the transport development plan - Michael Stötzer is ready to take part in the discussion.
Mayor Barbara Ludwig will also be answering questions from residents at her own table at the residents' meeting. However, she will not specify a topic. Rather, this table will have the character of a citizens' consultation, where all topics can be raised and discussed with the Lord Mayor.
The Capital of Culture Office and the Chemnitz-Süd Citizens' Network will also have their own table.
Organisational note: There will be a short introduction by the respective mayor at each topic table. Citizens will have the opportunity to move to another table at any time during the residents' assembly in order to join in the discussion there. If questions cannot be answered on the spot, they will receive a reply from the city administration afterwards.
