Residents' meeting for the entire city area
Invitation: on 18 April, 5 to 7 p.m., in the Town Hall, City Council Chamber and other rooms, 1st and 2nd floor
On Thursday, 18 April, from 5 to 7 pm, all citizens of Chemnitz are invited to a residents' meeting at the town hall, Markt 1.
Mayor Sven Schulze, the mayoress and the mayors will provide information on current developments and key projects in the first part of the meeting. Among other things, they will discuss
- Results of the youth meeting and outlook,
- events in the city,
- update on schools, information on the cooperation school and the upcoming school enrolment examinations,
- 2025 property tax reform,
- 2024 elections,
- Construction work at the zoo,
- Safety measures in the city centre,
- Information from the registration office on passport and driving licence exchange,
- Presentation of a project for socially disadvantaged children and young people,
- Information on the Bernsdorf swimming complex,
- broadband expansion and
- renovation of the Küchwaldpark and Konkordiapark playgrounds.
Afterwards, from around 6 p.m., participants will be able to address their concerns directly to the representatives of the administration and the city's stakeholders and engage in dialogue. In addition to representatives of the City of Chemnitz, contact persons from the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH, the Chemnitz transport company, the waste disposal and city cleaning company as well as the citizens' platforms and community activists will also be available for discussions.
In order to make the event as accessible as possible, sign language interpreters will be present during the first part. The event rooms on the first and second floors are barrier-free. As usual, no registration is required for participation.
From 3.30 pm, there will be two free guided tours of the town hall for adults and one for children. Places are limited, so registration is required. This is possible via the participation portal of the City of Chemnitz or by calling the Mayor's office on 0371 488 1512.
The tours are barrier-free except for the tower tour (200 steps).
