Reporting on the stadium: New north and south stands covered - majority of contracts awarded to companies in the region
The Lord Mayor and BAM report regularly to the Planning, Building and Environment Committee
This afternoon, Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig informed the City Council's Planning, Construction and Environment Committee about the status of work on the stadium construction site on Gellertstraße. Kay-Uwe Panzer, the responsible project manager of the general contractor BAM, also reported on the status of the construction work.
As planned, the roof for the south stand was completely installed last week before the east derby against Hansa Rostock. The north stand is to be fitted with a roof by the end of the week.
Of the estimated construction costs of around 25 million euros, around 8.9 million euros have already been paid out for services. In addition to ancillary construction costs, this includes the invoicing of the new north and south stands including roofing as well as the extension of the promenade areas of these stands. In addition, the demolition of the east stand and the relocation of the floodlight masts have been completed.
The next steps will be the partial demolition of the West Stand and the installation of the bucket seats in the North Stand, so that this stand can also be gradually taken over by visiting and home fans.
General contractor BAM Sports has so far commissioned 28 subcontractors with partial services. The majority of the contracts have gone to companies in the region: 18 companies come from the Chemnitz area and a further seven from Saxony.
After the overall building permit was granted on 12 June, further partial building permits will be required for the combined use of the existing and new building, depending on the progress of construction, as the conversion will take place while the stadium is in operation.
Keyword stadium: The remodelling of the stadium on Gellertstraße will take place during ongoing match operations and with a maximum budget of 25 million euros. A modern arena with 15,000 seats is being created, of which approx. 9,000 seats and 6,000 standing places, including a family block and barrier-free seats. The client is the city of Chemnitz.
