Report on the stadium: Roofing of the east stand - shell of the main building - part of the west stand covered with grandstand panels

The Lord Mayor regularly informs the Planning, Building and Environment Committee - completion planned for the fourth quarter

Mayor Barbara Ludwig today informed the Planning, Construction and Environment Committee about the status of work on the stadium construction site on Gellertstraße and the progress of the project.

This is what is currently happening: preparations for the fencing behind the north and south stands are in full swing. In the entrance area of the respective stands, the separation system including fencing and roofing is already under construction.

The roofing of the east stand with connection to the roof levels of the north and south stands is currently being completed. Large metal frames are now connecting the south, east and north stands. These are still being glazed. Behind the east stand, the sanitary facilities and kiosks are currently being extended.

The shell of the main stadium building is being constructed. Meanwhile, a section of the west stand in front of it is already being covered with stand panels.

General contractor BAM Sports has so far commissioned 33 subcontractors with partial services. The majority of the contracts have been awarded to companies in the region: 20 companies come from the Chemnitz area and a further nine from Saxony.

Around EUR 15.2 million of the contractually agreed total of around EUR 25 million has already been paid out for services. In addition to ancillary construction costs, this includes the invoicing for the sanitary installation of the east stand, the shell and finishing work of the east stand and the shell work of the west stand.

In the total budget of around 25.2 million euros (in addition to the construction budget, this also includes costs assumed by the CFC and subsidies for the demolition of the Go-Kart-Halle), a budget of around 300,000 euros is still available. Of this, around EUR 70,000 has been earmarked for services that have not yet been commissioned (such as redesigning the camera platform, redesigning Block 19 as a home fan area, changes to the promenade area).

Completion is expected in the 4th quarter of 2015. Coordination is currently underway for Chemnitzer FC's opening match, including with regard to the opponent. In the warmer months of next year, there will then be an open stadium weekend for all Chemnitz residents. Planning is currently underway for the accompanying programme on this day.

Speaking of the stadium: The remodelling of the stadium on Gellertstraße will take place during ongoing match operations and with a maximum budget of 25 million euros. A modern arena with 15,000 seats is being created, of which approx. 9,000 seats and 6,000 standing places, including a family block and barrier-free seats. The client is the city of Chemnitz.
