Report on the stadium: main building demolished - west stand almost completely dismantled - majority of orders in the region

Lord Mayor informs the Planning, Building and Environment Committee

Mayor Barbara Ludwig today informed the Planning, Building and Environment Committee about the status of work on the stadium construction site on Gellertstraße.

The final demolition work inside the old stadium is currently in full swing: in addition to the almost completely demolished west stand, the former VIP rooms and the stadium's dressing room wing have been demolished in recent days. Work has begun on the foundations of the new west stand and the main building. By the home match against Fortuna Köln on 31 January, the aim is to have 1600 seats in the east stand ready for fans to use.

Of the estimated construction costs of around 25 million euros, around 12.6 million euros have already been paid out for services. In addition to ancillary construction costs, this includes the invoicing for the sanitary installations for the north and south stands, the shell and finishing work for the east stand and the partial demolition and foundation work for the west stand.

General contractor BAM Sports has so far commissioned 33 subcontractors with partial services. The majority of the contracts have been awarded to companies in the region: 20 companies come from the Chemnitz area and a further nine from Saxony.
