Replacement of the bridge deck of the pedestrian bridge over the Zwönitz in Wasserwerkspark - bridge closed
Since the middle of this week, the bridge deck on the pedestrian bridge over the Zwönitz has been being replaced in Wasserwerkspark.
Depending on the weather, the bridge will be fully closed for two to four weeks for the construction work. The diversions for walkers and cyclists are signposted and lead via Annaberger Straße. Unfortunately, no other diversion is possible and we ask for your understanding.
The bridge was built as a replacement in 2004 following flood damage. Over the past 17 years, the oak planks have become very rotten due to the constantly damp floodplain weather and have already broken in places. The main inspection in 2019 already revealed a need for action.
The environmental agency commissioned a specialist company from Chemnitz to replace the oak planks with durable recycled plastic planks.
