Replacement construction of the Fritz-Matschke-Straße bridge over the Pleißenbach stream
At its meeting today, the city council decided to renovate the Fritz-Matschke-Straße bridge over the Pleißenbach stream.
During the last main inspection in 2017, extensive damage was found on the bridge, which was built in 1888, and the structural condition was rated 4.0. It is therefore imperative that the bridge is repaired. Among other things, it has several longitudinal and transverse cracks with partial concrete breakouts. These cracks are soaked with moisture, so it is assumed that the waterproofing is defective.
It is planned to span the arched bridge with a new superstructure. The visual appearance of the overpass will be retained as far as possible, as the new frame structure will be integrated into the existing bridge and will therefore not be visible.
Fritz-Matschke-Straße will be fully closed in the construction area during the bridge construction and traffic will be diverted accordingly.
The Fritz-Matschke-Straße bridge is to be renewed from August 2020 to May 2021. The costs for the project amount to around 673,000 euros.
