Today, Wednesday, Thomas Kütter, Mayor of Construction, and Konrad Krieger, Managing Director of Krieger Liegenschaften GmbH, signed the rental agreement for the future administrative centre of the City of Chemnitz in the former Kaufhof building.
In January 2025, the Chemnitz City Council had instructed the administration to move out of the Moritzhof and Alte Post administrative locations in a non-public meeting, as these leases expire in 2028. At the same time, a rental agreement was to be concluded with the Krieger Group.
In this regard, an application for review was submitted to the 1st Public Procurement Chamber of Saxony.
After the decision of the 1st Public Procurement Chamber of Saxony on 4 September 2025 regarding the lease of the former Kaufhof as an administrative location was in favour of the City of Chemnitz, the lease agreement with the Krieger Group was signed.
This means that the planned relocation of the various offices can take place as planned.
