Renovation work on "Brückner's lower pond"

Information from the Environmental Agency: Pond is being drained - woodland work required

In the coming weeks, "Brückner's lower pond" in the nature reserve of the same name at Pfarrhübel will be drained. The reason for draining the pond is the planned rebuilding of the old, ageing and dilapidated pond monk.

The existing fish stock will be fished out by an expert fishing company.
In order to enable the ecological function of the pond as a spawning ground for amphibians, even if migration begins during the construction period, the contractor will create a depression with residual water at the bottom of the pond before work begins.

In the run-up to the upcoming construction work, more extensive measures need to be carried out on the trees. On the one hand, construction clearance must be created and, on the other hand, urgent traffic safety measures are unavoidable due to an increasing number of dying trees.

The tree clearance work is scheduled to be completed by 20 February 2020. The public path by the pond will have to be closed for this. The construction work itself is expected to begin in mid-March. This will also require the public path by the pond to be closed for two to three weeks.
