Renovation of the sports floor in the Sachsenhalle
Following the implementation of the fire protection concept in 2013 and the renovation of the exterior façade in 2015, the sports floor in the Sachsenhalle is now also being renewed.
As a result of the intensive use of the hall, the sports floor has been subjected to constant wear and tear. After 20 years of use, progressive wear and tear was evident, resulting in poor slip resistance in some areas. Replacement was therefore urgently required for safety reasons.
Demolition work began on 4 August 2016. The work is expected to continue until 16 September 2016. The hall cannot be used during this period.
The total cost of the project is around 205,000 euros. The state of Saxony is contributing 50% of the eligible expenditure. This means that the City of Chemnitz is contributing around 102,500 euros.
