Renovation of the park railway station building begins
Invitation to the photo session: Ground-breaking ceremony on 23 June, 10 a.m.
On Thursday, 23 June at 10 a.m., the renovation of the park railway station building in Küchwaldpark will begin with the official ground-breaking ceremony by Building Mayor Michael Stötzer. Representatives of the media are invited to attend.
The old building, which dates back to 1980, will be remodelled to meet today's requirements. For example, separate changing rooms for girls and boys, including the associated sanitary facilities, as well as a sanitary facility for people with disabilities will be created. The poor condition of the building will also be rectified and a modern railway station building will be created.
This will ensure the continued existence of the attractive leisure activities offered by the park railway in Küchwaldpark and enable young people to take advantage of the training opportunities for young park railway workers as a meaningful leisure activity.
The kiosk part of the building will also be renovated so that a culinary offer will be available again.
There will be minor restrictions during the construction work, but the park railway will continue to operate during the season and will be controlled via two interim containers.
The construction work will cost a total of around 1,045,000 euros. It is being subsidised with 75 percent of the eligible costs in accordance with the guidelines of the Saxon State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport on the granting of subsidies for narrow-gauge railways (RL-SSB).
Construction is expected to be completed in summer 2023. This depends on how the supply bottlenecks and capacity difficulties in the construction industry develop and affect the project.
