Renovation of the Oberrabensteiner Straße playground
Work to renovate the Oberrabensteiner Straße playground begins this week. The work should be completed by 10 March.
The existing climbing frame, which was closed for safety reasons, has already been dismantled. A new climbing hexagon will be rebuilt in the same place from next week. A new planting area will be created in the neighbouring slab area to improve fall protection. The existing table tennis table will be placed in the centre of the slab area.
Originally, the playground was to be dismantled according to the playground concept, but several local residents lobbied the Parks Department against this. As a result, a residents' association took over the cleaning and maintenance of the facility on several occasions and intends to continue doing so.
With the construction of the new playground at Rabenstein primary school, the play area in Carlowitzpark can be removed and the Oberrabensteiner Straße playground renovated instead.
The construction costs amount to approx. 14,500 euros.
The company Gruenbau Ltd, Bad Schlema, was commissioned to carry out the work.
