Renovation of the junior stadium in the Sportforum decided
The junior stadium at the Sportforum is to be renovated. This was decided by the city council at its meeting today. The athletics facility will be reconstructed as a type C competition facility and the artificial turf surface will be renewed.
The athletics facility consists of a four-lane 400-metre synthetic running track with a six-lane short track on one side and athletics segments made of synthetic turf. The paths will also be renovated, as will the equipment such as basketball hoops, competition hurdles, high jump facility, the sports equipment store and the surrounding area.
At the same time, the surface of the artificial turf pitch will be renovated. It will then be used primarily for football and hockey.
The costs for the reconstruction of the athletics facility amount to around 2 million euros. Of this, 810,000 euros are subsidised. The renovation of the artificial turf pitch is expected to cost around 600,000 euros. Construction is scheduled to begin in May 2023. A construction period of six months is planned.
