Renovation of Frankenberger Strasse decided
At its meeting yesterday, the city council approved the resurfacing of Frankenberger Straße from Max-Saupe-Straße to Ebersdorfer Höhe, subject to the adoption of the budget bylaws.
The measure includes asphalt work, the necessary repair of road drainage facilities and the adaptation of ancillary areas and fixtures. Due to the damage to the road surface and the requirements of the noise action plan, it is planned to renew the road surface, taking into account possible noise optimisation. Due to the high volume of traffic and the length of time the road has been in use, the Frankenberger Straße has suffered from abrasion, chipping, patching, cracks and the resulting unevenness.
The refurbishment will be carried out in several construction phases. In the section between Max-Saupe-Straße and Eichendorffstraße, the city-bound carriageway can be diverted via Eichendorffstraße and Lichtenauer Straße. The country lane will remain on Frankenberger Straße and will have to be moved depending on the progress of the work.
A pedestrian traffic light across Eichendorffstraße is planned at the turning right of way Eichendorffstraße / Lichtenauer Straße. In the section between Eichendorffstraße and Ebersdorfer Höhe, construction work will also be carried out on one side only. In this section, traffic will be regulated by traffic lights.
The costs of the measure amount to around 221,000 euros. Of this, just under 152,000 euros in funding is planned. The refurbishment is scheduled to begin in mid-September and last until mid-October 2016.
