Renewal of Weststraße between Kochstraße and Gustav-Adolf-Straße
From Tuesday, 11 June 2019, until probably 26 July 2019, the renovation of Weststraße between Kochstraße and Gustav-Adolf-Straße will be carried out.
In the past, there have been many conflicts between public transport, private traffic and pedestrians in this section of Weststraße due to the high demand for crossing. In order to minimise these conflicts as far as possible, the edges of the carriageway are being realigned, the pavements are being renewed and additional kerbs are being lowered. Both bus stops will also be made barrier-free. The carriageway surface of Weststraße will also be renewed in this section.
Weststraße will be fully closed in the affected area. A diversion will be in place in both directions via Schiersandstrasse and Bodelschwinghstrasse.
Traffic will be regulated by traffic lights at the junctions Kochstraße/Waldenburger Straße/Bodelschwinghstraße, Bodelschwinghstraße/Schiersandstraße and Weststraße/Schiersandstraße.
The affected bus stops will be relocated to Bodelschwinghstraße.
The City of Chemnitz will spend a total of around 260,000 euros on the project. The company Eiffage Infra Ost GmbH Drebach has been commissioned to carry out the work.
