Renewal of the track triangle
Full closure of Bahnhofstraße in the direction of the main railway station required
The third construction phase of the coordinated construction project to renew the track triangle at Stefan-Heym-Platz will begin on Wednesday, 3 June 2020, at around 5 am.
For the necessary track installation and the remaining sewer construction work, Bahnhofstraße in the direction of the main railway station in the section from Zschopauer Straße to Augustusburger Straße must be fully closed for six weeks (until 10 July). CVAG and regional buses are exempt from this. Access to the Johannisplatz car park is still possible.
The diversion in the direction of the main railway station runs via Zschopauer Straße, Park der Opfer des Faschismus and Zieschestraße to Augustusburger Straße. From there, Bahnhofstraße and Brückenstraße can be reached.
In the direction of Falkeplatz, individual traffic will be swivelled over the old track in one lane.
The construction traffic lights at the junction of Bahnhofstrasse/Brückenstrasse/Augustusburger Strasse will remain in place and an additional construction traffic light will be installed at the junction of Bahnhofstrasse/Zschopauer Strasse/Johannisplatz.
It is recommended to use the large-scale bypass via August-Bebel-Straße, Mühlenstraße, Theaterstraße, Zwickauer Straße and Reichsstraße. For pedestrians and cyclists, it should be noted that, as before, there is no possibility of crossing the Augustusburger Straße at the Bahnhofstraße junction.
crossing via Augustusburger Straße at the Bahnhofstraße junction. The crossing via Brückenstraße can still be used.
The city council decided to renovate the railway triangle at Stefan-Heym-Platz in November 2019. The construction project is a collaboration between CVAG and the city's civil engineering department and, in addition to the track triangle, involves the neighbouring footpaths and cycle paths as well as the barrier-free expansion of existing stops.
Construction of the entire project began in mid-February 2020 and will take around 14 months in total.
Further information can be obtained from CVAG.
