Renewable Energy Day 2018
Guided tours on 27 April from 2 to 4 pm - registration requested by 25 April
Climate protection is one of the cornerstones of municipal services of general interest. In this context, the City of Chemnitz is taking part in the annual Renewable Energy Day for the 21st time.
On Friday, 27 April, from 2 pm to 4 pm, interested citizens can find out about the use of renewable energies in the city. Together with the regional energy supplier eins energie in Sachsen and inetz GmbH, the Environmental Agency will bring the energy transition to life.
This time, the focus will be on the energy storage facilities including solar heat generation on Georgstraße. There, renewable heat energy is generated from sunlight using 2,100 m² of collector surface, which supplies the Brühl neighbourhood. Once the overall energy concept for Brühl has been implemented,CO2 emissions in the area can be reduced by up to 47% if the buildings are fully refurbished and the energy development is realised with low-temperature district heating. The concept was developed and implemented jointly by eins, inetz, the city of Chemnitz and Chemnitz University of Technology and has attracted attention throughout Germany.
Anyone interested can register for one of three guided tours online at www.eins.de/TagEE or at the city's environmental office at 03714883601 by 25 April. The tours start at 2 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm. The meeting point is the gate at the cold storage facility on Georgbrücke (Georgstraße). Energy experts will explain further climate protection concepts and projects from eins, inetz and the City of Chemnitz itself. Citizens are cordially invited to attend.
