Relocation of offices to the new Technical City Hall completed

With the relocation of the building permit office to the new Technical Town Hall, the former Technical Town Hall at Annaberger Straße 89/93 is now empty. The city administration offices in the new building at Bahnhofstraße 25 are now fully occupied. 689 employees from nine offices, including seven from the building department, have moved in. It was the largest move in the history of the city administration, which had to be mastered and which was completed without any significant incidents.

"I would like to thank all the employees involved in this move. After months of preparation, they mastered this organisational and logistical tour de force with aplomb and ensured that the move went smoothly throughout," said Mayor Sven Schulze and Building Mayor Michael Stötzer added: "The companies involved in the move also all did a very good job."

Around 1000 employees of the city administration were affected by the move. The plans of the past months have largely materialised. Not only were around 10,000 cubic metres of removal goods transported in total. A particular challenge was the timeline for some offices. They were emptied and reoccupied on the same day.

Chemnitz residents will be able to find out more about the new Technical City Hall on 21 April 2018 at the open day.
