Registration of school starters for the 2024/25 school year
On 24 and 29 August 2023, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the desired municipal primary school
Children born between 1 July 2017 and 30 June 2018 will be required to attend school at the start of the 2024/2025 school year. Registration will take place on Thursday, 24 August and Tuesday, 29 August 2023, from 2 pm to 6 pm at the desired municipal primary school in the relevant school district. The currently valid statutes of the City of Chemnitz for determining the school districts can be viewed at www.chemnitz.de
If parents would like to register their child at an independent primary school, this must be communicated in writing to a municipal primary school in the relevant school district by 15 September 2023. The enrolment deadlines for independent primary schools can be obtained directly from them.
At least one custodial parent must be present for enrolment and must submit the following documents
- Fully completed registration form (available at www.chemnitz.de as well as from the education authority and the local primary schools)
- Identity card of the parent/guardian registering the child
- Birth certificate of the child starting school
- In the case of sole custody, proof of this is required
