REGIOSTARS 2020 of the EU Commission

Three Chemnitz clubs nominated - online voting still possible until 9 July

This year, the European Commission is once again honouring the most innovative EU-funded regional projects in Europe. The Commission selected a total of 206 entries in five categories that are important for the future of EU regional policy.

In the category "Youth Promotion for Cross-border Cooperation - 30 Years of Interreg", which is also the theme of the year, three projects from Chemnitz were nominated for the REGIOSTARS awards along with 27 other projects.

- "Das Planspiel (Simulation Game)" by the organisation Die Brücke e. V. enables 11 to 15-year-old pupils to gain intercultural experience, professional qualifications and democratic action orientation through German-Czech encounters.

- In "Viva la Musica", the Sächsische Mozart-Gesellschaft e. V. brings together young people from the Czech Republic and Saxony to make music together, rehearse and perform concerts.

- With "Dem Klima auf der Spur" ("Tracking down the climate"), the Chemnitz Children's Association supports children and young people from the German-Czech border region, who learn about the environment and gain an understanding of European environmental policy through encounters and exciting activities.

On 9 July 2020, a jury will announce the finalists it has selected - up to five per category. The votes cast for these projects will be included in the vote until September, which will determine the winner of the Audience Award.

The other four categories include Industrial Transition for a Smart Europe, Circular Economy for a Green Europe, Skills and Education for a Digital Europe, Citizen Engagement for Cohesion in European Cities.
