On Sunday evening, the 35th Chemnitz regional competition "Jugend musiziert" came to an end with the announcement of the final results at the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, the Annaberg Music School and the Flöha Music School.
Over the weekend, 110 young musicians took part in the competition in the categories piano solo, singing solo, harp solo, accordion chamber music, string instrument ensembles and wind instrument ensembles. The competitions in the drum set and new music ensembles categories took place in other regions of Saxony. The juries were impressed by the confident performances of all participants.
The youngest musicians achieved excellent results: they all won a first or second prize, but can only qualify for the state level from age category 2 (ten years and older).
Of the 110 participants in total, 39 were forwarded to the 2026 state competition, which will take place in Zwickau.
In the solo piano category, 16 pupils qualified. The highest score of 25 was achieved by Raphael Zidar from Chemnitz, Gloria Magdalena Richter from Frankenberg and Tanja Müller from Freiberg.
In the solo singing category, four students managed to qualify for the state competition.
In the string ensemble category, one ensemble qualified for the state competition: Mila Friedrich and Benjamin Müller, a cello duo from Chemnitz.
In the wind ensembles category, three ensembles with a total of seven participants qualified for the state competition.
In the accordion chamber music category, five ensembles with a total of ten participants qualified for the state competition. Two duos achieved the maximum score of 25 points: the accordion duo Jolanda Otto from Halsbrücke and Timea Krahl from Freiberg and the duo Nancy Kühnel (flute) and Richard Junge (accordion), both from Chemnitz.
Nancy Gibson, head of the regional committee: "The regional committee would like to thank the music students for their dedication and courage, the teachers for their great support, the piano accompanists and the parents and grandparents."
The regional competition was financially supported by Sparkasse Chemnitz.
