Regional conference on the topic of forests

Is the forest being jeopardised? Can forest utilisation strategies based on the model of forest nature be an option with positive environmental effects, especially for climate and nature conservation?
It is in the nature of things that different perspectives and interests lead to different strategies. The long-term ecological diversity and stability of forests must not be sacrificed to short-term economic or forestry policy interests. What are the building blocks for multifunctional, sustainable forest management and what options are there for municipal action?
Urban forestry offices such as in Lübeck show that in near-natural and old-growth forests with above-average wood stocks, not only can high-quality wood assortments be produced in an ecologically and economically sustainable manner, but large quantities of carbon can also be sequestered in the long term. Extensive forest management with minimised intervention and the associated strong build-up of stocks of tree species from natural forest communities can improve the closeness to nature as well as the carbon storage and carbon sink strength of forests.
Near-natural forest management is fundamentally positive for biotope and species protection. However, there are also specific requirements in terms of forest diversity and dynamics.
Soil-conserving timber harvesting methods and low mechanical utilisation of the forest floor have a positive effect on carbon storage and the protection of carbon stocks in the organic layers and are predominantly beneficial for biotope and species protection.
What possibilities and solutions do integrative management concepts offer for forest biodiversity and climate protection?
