Refugees move into emergency accommodation in gymnasium at short notice
This afternoon, around 70 refugees will move into the gymnasium at Markersdorfer Straße 64, most of whom are families with children who were assigned to the city of Chemnitz today by the Chemnitz state directorate. This is the first time that the reserve, which has been set up as emergency accommodation over the past few days, has been utilised. It is being used because the allocated refugees cannot be accommodated immediately in flats and existing shared accommodation.
In particular, it is currently proving difficult to provide additional flats with furnishings. As soon as possible, the people will then be housed in regular municipal accommodation. GGG and possibly other private landlords are currently preparing emergency flats for this purpose.
As envisaged in the accommodation and care concept, residents and neighbours will be informed about the establishment of the accommodation: A residents' meeting will be held today at 6 pm in the community centre of the Evangelical Lutheran Dietrich Bonhoeffer Church, Markersdorfer Straße 79, 09123 Chemnitz, which will be attended by the Mayor of Chemnitz, Miko Runkel.
