Reception for successful Chemnitz music students
Lord Mayor welcomes the young guests on Tuesday (18 June), 4 pm, in the Ratskeller
Mayor Barbara Ludwig will welcome the Chemnitz participants in this year's national "Jugend musiziert" competition to a celebration in the Chemnitz Ratskeller on Tuesday, 18 June 2013. The event will take place at 4 pm in the Marktstuben - representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend.
This is in recognition of the outstanding achievements with which the pupils of Chemnitz Municipal Music School were able to achieve excellent placings at the nationwide competition in Erlangen in May (PM 277 from 24/05/2013).
Mayor Barbara Ludwig will recognise and thank the music students for their successful performance at "Jugend musiziert". In addition to the eleven participants in the national competition, two young musicians who had also qualified for the national competition but were still too young to take part have also been invited.
After a musical prelude with the Chemnitz musician Eckehard Bauer, a communal coffee table will provide an opportunity for dialogue. The headmistress, Nancy Gibson, and teachers from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, who have contributed to the great success of their students with their commitment, will also take part.
A subsequent tour of the town hall and tower, hosted by tower keeper Stefan Weber, will conclude the celebrations.
This year, the young musicians from Chemnitz once again scored outstanding results at the national "Jugend musiziert" competition: Nine out of a total of eleven participants won prizes in solo, duo and ensemble competitions, two of them in two different categories. Helene Winkler, who was one of last year's prizewinners, was the most successful Chemnitz participant with a 1st prize in the cello solo category and a 2nd prize with the quintet from the Municipal Music School.
