Reallocation of advertising rights in the urban area

City Council commissions the administration to launch a Europe-wide tender process

At its meeting today, Chemnitz City Council decided that the City of Chemnitz should put advertising rights on public spaces such as passenger shelters out to tender across Europe.

The decision is also intended to merge the previously separate contracts of the City of Chemnitz and Chemnitzer Verkehrs-AG (CVAG).

Since the 1990s, the City of Chemnitz and CVAG have awarded exclusive rights for outdoor advertising on their public spaces as a concession.

In return, both receive a lease payment from the concessionaire in the form of money, advertising contingents and the provision and maintenance of passenger shelters in the city area.

As there are numerous links with regard to advertising on public streets, the City of Chemnitz and CVAG have agreed to award the advertising rights jointly and for a period of 15 years.

The city administration will regularly inform the city councillors about the ongoing process and its results.
