Reading with author and illustrator Serge Bloch

City Library: on 28 September, 7 p.m., TIETZ, event hall

On Wednesday, 28 September at 7 pm, the Institut français in Saxony invites you to a reading in German and French with a very special guest in the Chemnitz City Library, event hall in the TIETZ: The well-known French author and illustrator Serge Bloch will present his novel La rue de l'Ours (The Bears of the Rue de l'Ours). He will also be showing some of his drawings. Ulrike Brummert and Martin Bauch will be responsible for the moderation, translation and German voice. Admission is free. Registration is requested by telephone on 0371 488 4366 or by e-mail to: information(at)stadtbibliothek-chemnitz.de.

The novel centres on a Jewish family's butcher's shop in Colmar, Alsace, in the 1960s. It is located in the street of the bear, rue de l'Ours. This is where little Serge finds his happiness and where his most formative memories are made. And it is from this place that he tells all his stories, big and small.

Serge Bloch is an internationally acclaimed illustrator and author. He lives in Paris and New York and works for the New York Times and Le Monde, as well as in advertising for brands such as Hermès and Samsung. His works have received numerous awards.

The event is organised by the Institut français Leipzig in cooperation with the Chemnitz City Library.
