"Reading against violence" for school classes
City library: Readings with Johannes Herwig on 5 and 6 October
On Wednesday and Thursday, 5 and 6 October, the Chemnitz City Library will once again be running the "Reading against violence" project. This year, pupils in years 5 and 6 will once again focus on a book for young people that deals with violence against and among young people. The author Johannes Herwig will read from his book "Scherbenhelden". In it, he addresses extremist violence in Leipzig in the post-reunification period and then talks to the pupils.

The "Reading against violence" project has been running at Chemnitz City Library since 2002. The readings by children's and young people's authors focus on different aspects of this constantly topical issue. They point out causes and connections and thus offer the opportunity to actively deal with the problem in class.
The project was initiated by the Verein Förderer der Stadtbibliothek Chemnitz e.V. and is funded by the Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz (LAP).
