Rates of assessment set for 2013

At its meeting yesterday, Chemnitz City Council approved the assessment rates for property and trade tax that will apply from 1 January 2013. As a rule, the assessment rates are set with the annual budget bylaws. However, it is permissible to set the assessment rates separately outside of the budget bylaws by means of separate assessment rate bylaws. In this case, it was necessary due to a city council resolution on budget consolidation.

The increase in the assessment rate for property tax B from 540 per cent to 580 per cent is part of the measures adopted by the city council as part of the budget consolidation concept EKKo. The assessment rates for property tax A and trade tax remain unchanged.

The assessment rates for property tax and trade tax were set as follows for the City of Chemnitz:

1. for property tax
a) for agricultural and forestry businesses (property tax A) at 350 per cent of the tax assessment amounts
b) for developed and undeveloped land (property tax B) at 580 per cent of the tax assessment amounts

2. for trade tax to 450 per cent of the tax assessment amounts.
