Rail work on the Bahnhofstraße
Night-time lane restrictions required from 12 to 16 July
From Monday to Friday, 12 to 16 July, rail welding and grinding work will be carried out on Bahnhofstraße at the junction with Annaberger Straße between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Traffic will be restricted as one lane will have to be closed for this work.
Due to the high tram frequency at this junction, this type of work can only be carried out during breaks in tram operation and therefore usually at night.
This measure involves repairing a rail and switch structure using welding and grinding techniques. This is necessary to ensure safe and quiet rail traffic. Among other things, so-called running edge breakouts and running surface defects, which would lead to a very high noise level, rapidly progressing wear and unacceptable track guidance conditions, are repaired.
