Puzzle tour, lecture, Streetcycle and Sunday Hangover
Colourful weekend programme for the cultural summer at Brühl
As part of the cultural summer, organised by the European Art Community and its partners, together with Brühl Management and the city's Brühl Office, the weekend will once again be lively and colourful at Brühl.
Whether it's a puzzle tour or a lecture on the history of the Brühl, watching or taking part in the Realstreet BMX races in the centre of the Brühl, retro techno or house music on the evenings in the Brühl Barlament (Brühl 51), at the Sunday Hangover with a cosy barbecue and music or finally again on Monday from 3 p.m. with guerrilla knitting - there is something for everyone at the Kultursommer. More information can be found at www.kultursommer.cc.
Here are selected events for the weekend:
Saturday, 27 July, 14:00 - 15:00
Puzzle tour - The Chemnitz Brühl through the ages
On this tour, anyone interested will follow the historical development of the Brühl with tour guide Udo Mayer - once a Kuhanger, later a typical workers' residential area, in GDR times a shopping paradise for Karl-Marx-Stadt residents, then a neighbourhood with many vacancies and in future an attractive residential area for young and old.
A quiz with small prizes awaits at the end. Participation is free of charge. The meeting point is the Brühl office (Brühl, corner of Untere Aktienstraße 12).
Saturday, 27 July, 16:00 - 17:00
Lecture - The Chemnitz Brühl through the ages
Following the puzzle tour, tour guide Udo Mayer will explain the Brühl through the ages in a lecture with pictures in the Brühl office. The topic is the historical development of the area up to today's inner-city neighbourhood, which is currently undergoing urban development. The event will take place in the Brühlbüro (Brühl, corner of Untere Aktienstraße 12).
Saturday, 27 July, and Sunday, 28 July, both from 12 noon
Streetcycle Invasion
Realstreet - normal surroundings, roads, footpaths, railings, natural obstacles, all of these are included and ridden and used in Realstreet with BMX bikes. It doesn't matter whether it takes place under a bridge, on a building site or in a railway station square. The main thing is that everything that can be ridden on a BMX bike is utilised in the best possible way.
This weekend, such a Realstreet BMX contest is taking place on the Brühl in Chemnitz. With their event, the guys from Cycle-Invasion from Chemnitz want to showcase Realstreet BMX in the most authentic way in the form of a BMX contest. The prize money of 1,400 euros makes it clear that this is not just for fun. There are two classes, Class A for professional riders with sponsors and Class B for non-sponsored amateurs. The rider potential is high, as riders from all over Germany and further afield are expected. So anyone interested in cycling can look forward to seeing what is possible with a BMX bike in a natural environment.
The competitions will take place on the Brühl Boulevard on Saturday from 12 noon, while workshops for children and street jams with Best Trick Street will provide great entertainment on Sunday from 12 noon.
