Pupils from the twin cities of Tampere and Volgograd as guests in Chemnitz
Young people from two Chemnitz twin towns are expected to visit their partner school in Chemnitz in the first few days of December:
From 1 to 12 December, the Karl-Schmidt-Rottluff-Gymnasium will welcome 15 pupils from the Finnish twin town of Tampere. The exchange between the Chemnitz grammar school and its partner grammar school in Tampere has a tradition of over ten years and is independently supported by pupils and teachers from the two friendly schools.
The programme of their ten-day stay in Chemnitz also includes a visit to Chemnitz Town Hall for the young Finns: the tower keeper Stefan Weber is expecting the pupils on Tuesday, 2 December at 2 pm for a guided tour of the Town Hall and the High Tower. Representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend.
Contact: The contact person for the programme prepared by Karl-Schmidt-Rottluff-Gymnasium is KSR German and art teacher Gabriele Kühn on 0371/488-8560.
From 4 to 11 December, six pupils and a teacher from the 95th secondary school in the Russian twin city of Volgograd will be visiting the Annen-Oberschule in Chemnitz for a student exchange. The Russian pupils, who are learning German in Volgograd, will be accommodated in families during their stay in Chemnitz and will take part in lessons.
The Annen-Oberschule has also organised an extensive leisure programme, including a visit to the Christmas revue in the Stadthalle, a trip to the Chemnitz park railway and an excursion to the Christmas Erzgebirge. Of course, a visit to Chemnitz Town Hall followed by a stroll through the Chemnitz Christmas market is also part of the programme for the guests from Volgograd: the tower keeper, Stefan Weber, is expecting the guests on Friday, 5 December at 14:30 for a guided tour of the Town Hall and the High Tower. Representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend.
The Annen-Oberschule is being supported in its preparations by the Mayor's Office of the City of Chemnitz. In spring 2015, pupils from the Chemnitz Annen-OS will be travelling to Volgograd.
