Plakat zum Abschlusskonzert der Oberschule Schönau

On Friday, 15 March at 5 p.m., all Chemnitz residents are cordially invited to the final concert of the Schönau secondary school in the athletics hall at the Chemnitz Sports Forum. Admission is free of charge. Tickets are available at the Tourist Information Centre and at reception in the New Technical Town Hall, Friedensplatz 1.

The pupils will perform pieces of popular hip-hop, rock and pop music that they have learnt during the week. For example, the song "Drei Schüsse in die Luft" by Kraftklub. The participants were able to choose their favourite instruments themselves. Logo! presenter Linda, known from ZDFtivi, and The Voice Kids 2019 candidate from Chemnitz, Theo Haubensack, will also be performing at the concert.

Background:
In the week from 11 to 15 March, over 300 pupils from grades 5 to 10 at Schönau Secondary School will work together with their teachers, educators and under the direction of the braintreeacademy® to create 9 pieces of music.

They do this on a wide variety of instruments such as trombones, saxophones, basses, guitars, drums, keyboards, tenor horns, flutes and clarinets and will present what they have learnt at the end of the week in a large public final concert.

By making music together in the orchestra, the children experience what it is like to receive recognition and respect for good performance, integration and social behaviour. They define themselves through discipline, co-operation and success.

The braintreeacademy® trainers come from various German states such as Lower Saxony, Berlin, Brandenburg, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria and range in age from 12 to 53.

Media representatives are welcome to accompany the rehearsals. Everyone is cordially invited to the final concert.

The successful project premiere with pupils and teachers from Annen Primary School and Annen Secondary School in January can be viewed here.
