Pupil of the municipal music school successful
16-year-old impresses jury at the 13th Roland Zimmer Youth Competition
Anna Günther, a pupil at the municipal music school, has every reason to be happy. The 16-year-old has returned from the 13th Roland Zimmer Youth Competition with a very good result and a special prize.
Anna Günther has been playing the guitar for almost nine years and is a pupil at Chemnitz Municipal Music School. The 13th Roland Zimmer Youth Competition took place in Pirna at the end of April. It is named after the well-known Weimar guitarist and university teacher Roland Zimmer.
In front of an expert jury consisting of Simon Riedlecker, Daniela Heise and Prof. Andrzej Mokry, Anna Günther presented the pieces "The Frog Galliard" by John Dowland (1563-1626), "Canción de la Hilandera", a tremolo piece by Augustin Barriosck by Augustin Barrios Mangoré (1885-1944), "Cancion de Cuna" by Leo Brouwer (born 1939) and finally "Toccata" by Siegfried Müller (1926-2016).
Anna Günther was also honoured with the special prize of the BDZ (Bund Deutscher Zupfmusiker) Saxony for the best interpretation of the compulsory elective piece in her age group.
