Proposed solution for youth welfare projects
The city of Chemnitz has now submitted a proposal that can secure funding for youth work projects, integration support and child and family centres until the end of 2024.
The Saxon state budget for 2023/2024 was passed at the end of last year. This includes higher state subsidies for child daycare facilities from 1 January 2023. In concrete terms, this means additional income of around 3 million euros for the City of Chemnitz budget for 2023 - contrary to previous planning.
The proposal includes using these funds to finance youth welfare tasks. This is intended to maintain funding for youth work projects, integration support in daycare centres and after-school care centres as well as children's and family centres beyond April 2023 for the years 2023 and 2024. Subject to approval by the City Council, the additional funds will be incorporated into the draft budget of the City of Chemnitz in the near future.

This means that the City of Chemnitz will be able to fund all of the youth work projects submitted without any cutbacks, provided the City Council confirms our proposal."
