Promotion of voluntary integrative projects
Applications are accepted at the Chemnitz Social Welfare Office
This year, the City of Chemnitz has access to funding from the Free State of Saxony via the "Integrative Measures" guideline, which can be passed on to third parties. The funding is available for volunteer German courses and volunteer projects (micro-projects). Interested parties can contact the Chemnitz Social Welfare Office. Applications can also be submitted there. Contact: sozialamt.integration(at)stadt-chemnitz.de
German courses can be financially supported with up to 300 euros per course and micro-projects with up to 1,000 euros. No personal contribution is required. Material costs such as rent, work materials, teaching materials or travel costs for volunteers are eligible for funding. Personnel costs are not eligible for funding. A volunteer initiative can receive a maximum of 1,000 euros per year. The corresponding funding application must be submitted to the City of Chemnitz Social Welfare Office at least four weeks before the start of the programme.

German course for refugee women
The Lila Villa offers German courses for refugee women. The first elements of basic German vocabulary are taught. Topics such as personal details, numbers, time, children and doctor's appointments are also covered. The aim is to have basic knowledge and be able to follow simple conversations after the course. The German course is led by two women who speak Arabic/German and Kurdish/Farsi/Pashto/German.
The German course for Arabic-speaking women takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 pm to 4.45 pm. Women who speak Kurdish, Farsi, Pashto can attend the German course on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4 pm to 6.45 pm. The courses are free of charge for participants.
Bicycle workshop "Arrive by bike"
The bicycle workshop of the SaveMe sponsorship programme of the Sächsischer Flüchtlingsrat
e. The team of refugees and Germans checks and repairs bicycles donated by Chemnitz residents. The bikes are then given to asylum seekers free of charge or for a small donation. 200 bicycles have already been handed over with the help of the people of Chemnitz. Around 400 people are waiting for the opportunity to acquire such a bike and thus a piece of mobility. The funding has been used to purchase important spare parts and tools, among other things. Bicycles and spare parts that are no longer needed can be handed in during opening hours.
