Promotion of 42 projects of the Local Action Plan
Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Family increases funding by 200,000 euros
42 projects are being funded with a total of 380,000 euros as part of the Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz. The selection was made by the monitoring committee of the Local Action Plan for the Promotion of Democracy. The funding is made up of 80,000 euros in municipal funds and 300,000 euros in federal funds from the federal "Demokratie Leben" programme. The federal funding amount was thus increased by 200,000 euros.
With an application volume totalling 750,000 euros, the amount of funding applied for far exceeded the amount available. It was therefore not possible to fund all the projects applied for. This commitment is overwhelming and shows that many Chemnitz citizens want a tolerant and cosmopolitan city.
Promoting democracy is an issue that is close to the hearts of many citizens in Chemnitz. Particularly after the events of August 2018, many have expressed their interest in getting involved in a democratic society. This interest has been reflected in the number and financial scope of applications.
