Promoting reading with a surprise effect

City library packs reading goodie bags again for the winter holidays

From Wednesday, 7 February, the central library in the TIETZ and the district libraries in the Vita-Center, Yorckgebiet, Einsiedel and Wittgensdorf will once again be providing reading goody bags for girls and boys of primary school age. They can be borrowed with a valid library card, which is free of charge for children up to the age of 18.

Surprising reading moments are guaranteed with the Wonder Bags, as the children do not know which books they are borrowing. Only a themed sticker and the categorisation of the reading level help with the selection. In addition to two unknown books, the packs contain little surprises for the curious readers.

The holiday campaign for primary school pupils combines children's curiosity about a goodie bag with exciting stories - with the aim of increasing reading motivation.

Chemnitz City Library is committed to promoting reading among children with various programmes. It offers a wide range of events, from weekly read-alouds for the very young to exciting activities during the holidays and an extensive programme for various educational institutions.
