Projects in school meeting centres will receive around 80,000 euros in funding from the city in 2014
Youth welfare committee adopts guidelines for the granting of subsidies and grants for children and young people and for the promotion of school-related youth work programmes
Yesterday, the Youth Welfare Committee approved two guidelines drawn up by the Office for Youth and Family, which support eligible Chemnitz residents with benefits for the maintenance of their children and young people in accordance with the provisions of the German Social Code, as well as funding independent organisations for school social work projects. Both guidelines come into force on 1 April 2014.
Directive on the granting of one-off subsidies and grants (B-233/2013):
Aid and grants financed from the city budget include, among other things the full assumption of the costs for excursions and trips lasting several days with the class, school or day care centre, the possibility of assuming the basic requirements for furnishing living space upon termination of inpatient assistance in the amount of990 euros, an increase in the allowance for school supplies, leisure activities and hobbies from 155 euros to 220 euros in line with the regulations of the education and participation package and the payment of allowances for glasses or contact lenses and repairs to glasses. The guideline applies to support for children, adolescents and young adults accommodated in Chemnitz youth welfare centres and is only effective for this group of people in the city's budget. The inclusion of further regulations on subsidies and grants results in additional expenses of approx. 17,900 euros, which are financed from the youth welfare budget.
In 2013, 298,000 euros were available in the city's budget for one-off grants and subsidies; 320,000 euros are planned for 2014.
Guideline for the promotion of school-related youth work programmes (B-021/2014): School-related youth work is offered by youth associations, groups and initiatives, other youth work organisations and public youth welfare organisations. The city only funds school meeting places at secondary schools, special schools and grammar schools in the city of Chemnitz. Applications for funding are examined by the Youth Welfare Office and a funding proposal is drawn up by the Youth Work - School Working Group and submitted to the Youth Welfare Committee as a decision proposal.
Note: The Youth Work - School Working Group includes city councillors who are active in the Youth Welfare Committee, representatives of the administration (School Administration Office, Office for Youth and Family and Crime Prevention Council), one representative each from the primary schools, secondary schools, special schools and grammar schools, school-related youth work, the specialist working group on school social work and educational child and youth protection.
As in the previous year, a total of €80,000 is available in the City of Chemnitz budget for thefunding of school-related youth work measures applied for in 2014 (B-020/2014). In accordance with the funding guidelines, a total of ten associations in cooperation with 14 schools in the city submitted applications to the Office for Youth and Family Affairs for the funding of services for the operation of school meeting places with an eligible application volume totalling 78,895 euros.
Please note: There is no fixed limit for the amount of funding, but funds are allocated according to the number of applications submitted and the annual budget available. The municipal funding amount in the area of personnel costs is a maximum of 50 per cent in accordance with the approval of the state on the basis of the ordinance of the Saxon State Ministry of Culture on allocations to general education schools with all-day programmes.

V., Stadtteilverein für Kinder-, Jugend- und Sozialarbeit (Untere Luisenschule/Oberschule and Annen-Oberschule), Solaris Förderzentrum für Jugend und Umwelt gGmbH Sachsen (Karl-Schmidt-Rottluff-Gymnasium, Oberschule Gablenz and Josephinenschule/Oberschule), German Province of the Salesians of Don Bosco (Georg-Weerth-Oberschule), Kinderland Sachsen e. V. (Albert-Schweitzer-Oberschule), Kinderland Sachsen e. V. (Albert-Schweitzer-Oberschule), Kinderland Sachsen e. V. (Albert-Schweitzer-Oberschule). V. (Albert-Schweitzer-Oberschule), Montessori-Verein Chemnitz e.V. (Montessori-Schule Chemnitz), Freier Evangelischer Schulverein e. V.
