Programme of the Chemnitz School Theatre Week presented
Today, the Mayor of Culture, Phillip Rochold, and the General Director of Städtische Theater Chemnitz gGmbH, Dr Christoph Dittrich, jointly presented the programme for the 16th Chemnitz School Theatre Week at Einsiedel Grammar School. A total of 27 institutions from the city and region applied with 30 theatre plays, from which the jury had to choose. More than 400 pupils will now present their plays on the stages of the Chemnitz Schauspielhaus from 23 to 28 March 2014.
This year, theatre groups from the twin cities of Łódź and Mulhouse will be guests.
The pupils of the theatre group from Łódź will open the school theatre week with the play "Momo and the Time Thieves". The play "MADE IN GDR - EINE SZENISCHE SELBSTBEFRAGUNG" (MADE IN GDR - A SCENIC SELF-SURVEY), developed by Year 7 pupils from the Chemnitz school model, will then takethe audience on a very special journey through time. In the subsequent audience discussion in the foyer, guests are invited to discuss the play and the events of 25 years ago.
You can look forward to a varied programme. There is something for every taste and for young and old. The programme ranges from well-known plays such as "Die Welle", "Pension Schöller", "Linie 1", "Faust", "Jim Knopf und Lukas der Lokomotivfüor "The Princess and the Pea" to in-house productions such as "The School Trip", "Crimes of Passion" or "How Dr. Silbermann turned iron water into gold". The theatre group from Einsiedel Grammar School gave a foretaste of what to expect at the public presentation of the school theatre week programme. They showed an excerpt from the play "Cindy Rella", which will be performed on 25 March at 2 pm in the Schauspielhaus.
