Programme for the new winter semester goes online
Adult education centre: All courses can be booked online from 17 June
On Monday, 17 June, Chemnitz Adult Education Centre will put its programme for the 2024 winter semester online. From 10 a.m., all courses between 2 September 2024 and 28 February 2025 can be searched for and booked at www.vhs-chemnitz.de.
The Chemnitz Adult Education Centre's winter semester begins on Monday, 2 September. Interested parties can browse the adult education centre's autumn and winter programme for their desired courses and register for them directly eleven weeks before the start of the semester. With 585 different courses from six subject areas, the selection is very large. The programme is constantly being updated and expanded with new events.
Continued focus on Europe
The annual focus "Focus: Europe" will continue in autumn and winter. Spain will be the special topic in November. The diversity of the Iberian country will be recognised in various events. In particular, the country's rich cultural and linguistic spectrum as well as its political and social characteristics will be highlighted. Of course, Spanish cuisine is not to be missed, and its history and wealth of recipes will be presented in cookery courses.
Hot topics that make a difference
The federal budget, cryptocurrencies, artificial intelligence, international politics - the adult education centre's current affairs and discourse section will continue to address controversial and hotly debated topics in the coming semester. Respected academics, experts and insiders will impart in-depth knowledge in their respective lectures by providing an overview, visualising complex structures and highlighting connections. It goes without saying that all lectures encourage an open exchange and objective discourse.
Wide range of foreign languages makes you fit for 2025
With 21 different foreign languages, the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre is once again focusing on great diversity in the winter semester. New to the programme are the Spanish regional languages Basque, Catalan and Galician. Braille can be learnt for the first time at the Adult Education Centre. Braille was developed by Louis Braille in 1825 and celebrates its 200th anniversary next year. To this day, it is the worldwide writing standard for blind people. In addition to new languages, new formats for learning English and brushing up on rusty language skills will also be offered in view of Chemnitz 2025 being the European Capital of Culture. Topic-specific courses are aimed at staff in museums, shops and supermarkets as well as restaurants and hotels.
