Programme for the new summer semester goes online
Adult education centre: All courses can be booked online from 2 December
On Monday, 2 December, Chemnitz Adult Education Centre will put its programme for the 2025 summer semester online. From 10 a.m., all courses on the programme between 3 March and 29 August 2025 can be searched for and booked at www.vhs-chemnitz.de. There will continue to be a mixture of face-to-face events and online formats.
In the coming year, Chemnitz Adult Education Centre will focus on the major core topics and offer a total of 524 courses in six subject areas in the summer semester. The programme is constantly being updated and expanded with new events. The summer semester of the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre (vhs) begins on 3 March 2025.
In scientific and political education, the "Science up close" series invites you to the events "Japan as a laboratory for ageing societies" and "A journey through time in the amber forest of Central Europe". There will also be a focus on the "History and Present of Russia", which goes hand in hand with the exhibition "Post-Soviet Lifeworlds" organised by the Federal Foundation for the Reappraisal of the Past. With the reading "The Mortal God. Power and Rule in the Tsarist Empire" and a discussion with the Spiegel correspondent Christina Hebel in Moscow, the political spectrum of Russia will be depicted.
The series "Making compromises" opens up three different approaches to this current topic, namely from an economic, political and philosophical perspective. The event "What constitutes good learning. A historical review and an invitation to dialogue", which offers the opportunity to talk to Barbara Ludwig, former Lord Mayor.
The core topics relating to health offer a wide range of courses. These include a whole range of different exercise courses such as yoga, tai chi, etc., which provide balance in stressful times. Women's health, conscious nutrition and cookery courses for senior citizens living alone or with grandchildren are also included in the programme. The programme is supplemented by current topics for senior citizens in Chemnitz.
Guided tours and excursions will be organised again in the new semester. A bicycle tour will be organised on industrial history and, against the backdrop of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, tours of the city will be dedicated to architecture. Another educational tour will focus on Theresienstadt.
In addition to art and culture programmes, 23 foreign languages can be learned in over 100 courses this summer. These include Albanian, Estonian and Lithuanian for the first time. People from 48 nations learn German at the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre. The courses are united by the fact that they bring people together.

Even if something comes up at short notice, registered participants can remain relaxed - cancellations can be made free of charge up to six working days before the start of the course.
