On Monday, 15 June, Chemnitz Adult Education Centre will put its programme for the 2026 winter semester online. From 10 a.m., all courses taking place between 7 September 2026 and 28 February 2027 can be searched for and booked at www.vhs-chemnitz.de.
The Chemnitz Adult Education Centre's winter semester begins on Monday, 7 September. Nine weeks before the start of the semester, interested parties can browse the adult education centre's autumn/winter programme online for their desired courses and register for them straight away. There is currently a very large selection of 557 different courses from six subject areas. And the programme is constantly being updated and expanded with new events.
Know, can, do
Acquiring, memorising and applying - these are the most important stages of learning. The adult education centre accompanies and supports its participants in this process, which always goes hand in hand with personal development and growth.
The aim of imparting useful knowledge in a sustainable, applicable and effective way is emphasised in the new claim "Knowledge. Can. Doing" sums it up. It is also the guiding principle in programme planning. Many new programmes address current topics and take account of trends, changing interests and changing needs.
Living consciously
New priorities are being set in the "Living Consciously" area in particular. Of the 162 programmes currently planned, 22 are new. In the popular subject area of exercise, half of the 56 courses are in the yoga spectrum, which has been enriched in the new semester with short courses specifically dedicated to women's health. In the "Healthy and mindful living" area, the number and variety of self-care courses is growing. For example, dealing with feelings such as anger or anxiety is addressed and impulses are given for transition and upheaval phases in life. If you want to (re)discover baking for yourself, you are sure to find the right course for both savoury and sweet pastries.
Education, encounters, exchange for a strong community
At the adult education centre, no one learns alone. In the courses, workshops and lectures, people always meet and exchange ideas. People who share interests and learning goals meet here - no matter how different they may be. In this way, the adult education centre helps to build bridges, make contacts, start conversations together and understand each other better - in short: to promote a sense of community.

As always, it is advisable to book courses well in advance. Even if something comes up at short notice, registered participants can remain relaxed - cancellations can be made free of charge up to six working days before the start of the course.
