Programme for the 2015 theme year "Modern Chemnitz - Art and Architecture" now available
Chemnitz institutions and cultural organisations are offering an attractive programme of events for the 2015 theme year. The project is coordinated by the Chemnitz Cultural Office and supported by the CWE. The programme flyer is available free of charge in all public institutions and at the tourist information office at Markt 1.
The CWE already presented the event flyer at the ITB in Berlin. There, the programme met with a consistently positive response from visitors. The 2015 theme year "Modern Chemnitz - Art and Architecture" aroused great interest among visitors, especially during the end consumer days.
One item on the programme in April, for example, is the lecture with Prof. Dr Christoph Fasbender: "Who rode Aristotle?" on 8 April 2015, 7.15 pm at the Chemnitz State Museum of Archaeology. It marks the start of the public lecture series. www.tu.chemnitz.de
From 24 April to 26 April 2015, the Gunzenhauser Museum will host the Bauhaus Festival with masterclasses and concerts by the brilliant violinist and pianist Kolja Lessing in an event organised by the Sächsische Mozart-Gesellschaft e. V. and the Städtische Musikschule Chemnitz. www.mozart-sachsen.de
The Villa Esche invites you to a lecture with Klaus-Jürgen Sembach: "Henry van de Velde's passion for theatre The Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris - planning and failure " on 30 April at 7 pm. With the exhibition "Die Zeit drängt" (Time is pressing), the Neue Sächsische Galerie turns its attention to the perception of constantly and restlessly accelerating movements in society. Constant movement is almost anthropologically predetermined in our lives in the form of astronomical and biological rhythms. In addition, there has always been a cultural movement, which, with the electronic-digital revolution, is making space void in huge steps and endeavouring to make the relationship to the body disappear.
Artists are presented who attempt to give images to the passing of time and the dynamics of its perception. The selection is less interested in a conceptual approach than in works that enable physical experiences with all the senses. All of the works are united by a great suggestiveness due to the necessity of the only guiding, but never depicting form of time. Thematically, typical occasions of the perception of time are touched upon: travelling, the shot, the gesture, the expected end, the never-ending movement, etc.
Artists from very different generations and backgrounds will be participating in the exhibition with installations, projections, drawings and videos: Roland Boden, Frank Bölter, Ivan Kafka, Takehito Koganezawa, Ulrich Polster, Juliane Schmidt, Zdenĕk Sýkora, Hael Yxxs.
