Prize-winning works from the JugendKunstTriennale on show
Opening of the exhibition on 24 March, 5 pm, in the TIETZ, 4th floor
On Thursday, 24 March at 5 p.m., the award-winning exhibition of the 2021 Youth Art Triennial of the Saxon-Bavarian Cities Network will open in the gallery area of the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre on the 4th floor of the TIETZ. In addition to the young art, there will be musical creations specially arranged for the evening on the electric piano by Stephan Nobis, composer, arranger and musician from Chemnitz. Anyone interested is cordially invited to attend.
After Bayreuth, Hof, Marktredwitz and Plauen, the 25 or so prize-winning works from the 2021 JugendKunstTriennale of the Saxon-Bavarian city network are now coming to Chemnitz and will be on display at the TIETZ until 21 April 2022. The exhibition can be visited Monday to Friday from 9 am to 8 pm. Admission is free.
The exhibition, which was organised by the city's cultural management and adult education centre, also features the works of the nine prizewinners from Chemnitz and the surrounding area, including one main prize each in the 14 to 18 age group and the 19 to 25 age group.
The JugendKunstTriennale competition, the largest cultural project of the Saxon-Bavarian city network, has been running since 1998. The interest of young people aged between 14 and 25 is growing: in 2021, there were 349 submissions in the member cities, more than ever before.
As no theme is specified for this competition, participants were once again able to give free rein to their creativity. A wide variety of works in very different formats were submitted: from painting, drawing, sculpture and photography to installations, design objects and textile works. All of them provide an impressive insight into the thoughts and feelings of the young people.
The major main exhibition with all 105 artworks selected by a jury took place in Zwickau in 2021.
